If you have recently purchased a home and occupy it, do not forget to come in to the assessor’s office and fill out a homeowner’s exemption form.
If you are a qualified Idaho homeowner, you might be eligible for the Property Tax Reduction (PTR) program. You could reduce property taxes from $250 to $1,500 on your home and up to one acre of land. The Tax Commission and county assessors administer this program. Apply through the county assessor’s office.
Guidelines and filing procedures are outlined in the Idaho Property Tax Reduction Program brochure.
We will be accepting applications starting January 2nd - April 15th. Please bring your proof of income and medical expenses from 2021.
If you have circumstances or life changes that make it impossible to meet the payments to maintain your home you can file a hardship application with the County Commissioners. Examples of hardship: Unemployment, reduced income caused by furlough, a new job, partner’s job loss, pay cut, etc.
