Administrative Assistant - Planning & Zoning

  1. SUPERVISION RECEIVED

    Performs independently under the general supervision of the Administrator and Assistant Administrator.

    TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ESSENTIAL

    • Researching and responding to requests for information.
    • Processing development permits. 
    • Preparing meeting minutes. 
    • Scanning and filing. 
    • Maintaining a website. 
    • Processing building permits. 
    • Answering phone calls and responding to voicemails.
    • General office duties.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Ability and experience working with ordinary office equipment, computer programs including Word and Excel, as well as some data processing experience. 
    • Ability to meet deadlines, conduct research, problem solve, work independently. 
    • Excellent writing skills.
    • Basic map reading skills.
    • Knowledge of legislative procedures.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to learn, apply, and retain a wide variety of information. 
    • A work history with exemplary attendance.

    EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

    • Three or more years of experience or education in urban planning, political sciences, public policy or, 
    • Five or more years of consistent administrative experience or,
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

    SALARY:  Starting at $15.00/HR and up*
