Preparedness
Planning, preparation and training are essential when dealing with different types of disasters. Jerome County Office of Emergency Management (JCOEM) develops and maintains a comprehensive state emergency plan to ensure mitigation and preparedness, appropriate response and timely recovery from natural and man-made hazards which may affect residents of Jerome County. All actions undertaken by emergency management focus on the protection of lives and property, with special sensitivity toward victims and their families. JCOEM encourages education and training to prepare the citizens of Jerome County to respond to an emergency or disaster in the most cost-efficient manner.
Launched in February 2003, Ready.gov is a nation wide campaign supported by the Jerome County Office of Emergency Management aimed at motivating community members to take action to prepare for a disaster. JCOEM coordinates the county's preparedness, response and recovery efforts to disasters.
