Jerome Airport Manager Application

  1. SUPERVISION RECEIVED

    Performs independently under the general supervision in the chain of command of the Jerome County Airport Advisory Board and Jerome County Board of County Commissioners. The location of this position will take place at the Jerome County/ Hazelton Airports in Jerome County, Idaho. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.

    TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ESSENTIAL

    • Carry out the duties listed in the Jerome County Airport Manger Operations Manual. Understand and enforce the Jerome County/Hazelton Airport Rules and Regulations
    • Be responsible for day to day operations of the Jerome County/Hazelton Airports including fueling, tie-down and hangar rentals, as well as maintenance operations.
    • Maintain all airport grounds, buildings, and equipment
    • Review and make recommendations to the Airport Advisory Board on applications from persons seeking to conduct activities at the airport.
    • Perform administrative duties, including the preparation and administration of budgets, records, work orders, and purchasing.
    • Oversee administration of federal and state grants and negotiate contractual agreements as authorized.
    • Perform a variety of public relations and marketing duties.
    • Provide recommendations regarding equipment purchases; requisition all supplies and material needed for effective airport operations.
    • Generate and maintain invoices to airport tenants and users and collect amounts due. 
    • Collect fuel flowage and other fees.
    • Make personal visual inspection of space and facilities.
    • Gather information for and prepare departmental budget; ensure spending and purchases are within approved budgetary limitations, as well as oversee department purchases of supplies and equipment. 
    • Understand and maintain Airport Master Plan and Airport Layout Plan.
    • Provide short and long-term planning and capital improvement projects.
    • Maintain good communication among the County Commissioners, the Airport Advisory Board, airport users, member of the public, and various federal and state agencies.
    • Report monthly to the Board of County Commissioners and attend other meetings when requested. 

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    ESSENTIAL

    • Must have knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in general aviation operations
    • Must obtain certification to handle aviation fuel within one month of employment start date.
    • Ability to direct and supervise employees
    • Ability to maintain a good temperament when communicating with the public
    • Must have good writing and verbal communication skills
    • Must have good human relations skills, with the ability to work effectively with others
    • Must be available to work beyond ordinary work hours as necessary
    • Ability to operate a personal computer, calculator, telephone, and other equipment typically used in a modern office
    • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, a small tractor, a snowplow, and other motorized equipment essential to airport upkeep
    • Must be able to perform job duties in harsh weather conditions
    • Must be able to take input, follow though on assignments, be a self-starter, and exercise good judgment.

     

    OTHER EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be 21 years of age
    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Must have a valid State of Idaho Driver’s License
    • Must submit to and pass a drug test and background check
